About Menglin

In 2012, UX first entered my life as a 'buzzword'. Little did I know that it would become such an integral part of my journey.

I stumbled into product design in 2017 at a startup in China - the first company in the country to simplify data analysis for mobile-responsive websites catering to live-streaming businesses. Starting as a junior UI designer, I progressed to leading a design team of 8 people. It was here that I discovered my passion for user research, visual design, and UX design.

The experience I gained from the startup led me to Alibaba, where I became an interactive designer in the DAMO Academy department. There, I worked on four different projects, including an AI mobile product, desktop applications, and websites.

In 2022, I had the privilege of serving as a user experience designer at Citi Bank, where I led user research and dashboard redesign projects. At the time, Shanghai was under complete lockdown. Initially, I was concerned about the work efficiency. However, it turned out that we not only overcame the challenges of remote work but also developed new methods that helped us achieve our metrics 7 days earlier than planned.

I joined Northeastern University as a master's student, driven by my desire to deeply study UX and learn development technologies. This knowledge helps me better understand the full-stack development process, enabling more effective collaboration with teams.

Then I had the opportunity to work with Breathing.ai in Boston, a company focused on digital wellness.

Now, having graduated, I've been selected to redesign and rebrand the Northeastern Husky Communication website. The goal of this project is to attract more student engagement and sponsors, allowing me to apply my newly acquired skills in a real-world, high-impact scenario.

My Unique Experiences

In 2019, I embarked on an entrepreneurial journey by launching my own e-commerce jewelry store. This venture allowed me to wear multiple hats, handling all aspects of the business including jewelry design, marketing, web design, photography, and data analysis. In the first three months, I achieved a net profit of $2000 per month.

During my time at Northeastern University, I actively engaged in school activities and became a member of UXPA. These led to my nomination for experiential learning at Northeastern.
